Centering the design is an important part of embroidered fabric production. If exact placement is required, the artwork or pattern should be outlined on tracing paper, marking paper, or another approved placement guide. The fabric can then be positioned over the outline and marked lightly with chalk or a fabric pencil before embroidery begins.

As a rule of thumb, Cut & Sew garments generally require a higher level of craftsmanship and production planning than standard mass-produced items.
